I would like to congratulate Karena on getting our non profit part of our guild set up.  Our artists guild has been involved with the homeless and helping underprivelaged youth and now we will be helping with cancer patients, and the elderly.

We have a few make up artists within our guild and we are now sponsoring a non profit arm of our group to help cancer patients.

Karena Conley, one of our fine artists, is also a body artist, and nationally recognized and licensed make up artist and aesthitician.  She set up a non profit group called "Beauty from the Heart". This non profit will help cancer patients, and the elderly as well as the jobless.  When you go through some of the treatments to survive the brutal battle with cancer, your skin is ravaged.  We want to have our make up artists and a group of Aesthiticians go out to hospitals and to these survivors and treat them to facials, and help them regain their self esteem with spa treatment and skin care.

In the past we have helped with Breast cancer fundraisers and this is something that we as artists are very passionate about.

Congrats Karena, we are so proud of you!

Hi everyone, this is Zac :)

I thought I would type on here and just babble a bit

So Im supposed to have two to three new pieces by the 30th of this month.....any ideas what I should paint?

also some good news, I'm drawing 9 pages for Stephen Lindsay (the sick ass artist of Jesus hates Zombies. The book is called The Secret Cross and it's published by Chimera Press. [link]

we are also working on our grant proposals for our new gallery/ studio. The gallery studio will offer a Lanzone for gamers, a fully functional art studio for our artists, a t-shirt printing area for Jimmy and his Fake world brand, an outside sculpture area for Andrews animal accents of Colorado, a small photography studio for me and Matt, and a bunch of computers and game systems.

This studio will offer "made" feature to it. We offer local artists the opportunity to work with us and other national established artist for a short period of time to understand what it takes to make it in the art world (from a pro's point of view). The artists that they work with help them establish a goal and accomplish it before their time is up with their internship. Our format is similar to the hit MTV show "Made". The artists that we will be offering as role models and teachers are not all BFS artists. They are local graphic designers, professional photographers, comic artists, fine artists, air brush artists, body artists etc etc

Last year We helped three new young artists establish themselves in the art community after putting them through an intensive internship program with yours truly. I helped two of them establish their work in a viable industry in their chosen medium and helped them create brands that are now selling throughout Colorado. Andrew Tomlin is in 24 stores with his Animal Accents of Denver line (Sculpture) and he has 20 more stores set up for orders in the spring. He also had his artwork hung at the Bad art show, The Zombie Dance party, sold work at the Majesticon, and the Bad art show (in conjunction with Art in the city) "Art for peanuts"

Jimmy McGrath has established his Fake World T-shirts brand and has sold shirts all over the country. Jimmy uses the brand to raise funds for his film making goals and also to supply his never ending need to eat.  Jimmy has worked for and raised money for the Colorado chapter of Sigma tau Delta (the international honor society of literature) and was a key fundraiser for the group as they worked towards raising enough money for the chapter to go out and see Grant Morrison. Jimmy also made t-shirts for both campaigns in last years presidential campaigns, was a guest at the VGA's and may be teaching a class at this years Opus convention on t-shirt design and screen printing.

Last year was a great year with all of us over here in our little section of the artworld. We appreciate all of your support.

I'm excited to see what 2009 brings us.

See you on the con circuit

I would love to welcome Roxann Wright into the guild!!!  She's a fantastic writer out of Los Angeles and she will be working on a few of our projects with us and writing a grant for our educational ambitions as well as our goals to use Karenas make up and skin care talents to help the more needy and under privaleged in our society!  She will be working with a team of make up artists, hair stylists and skin care therapists/ esthiticians to work with the sick and elderly also.

Hope you are all having a great Holiday season!!

So far December in the forest has been fun.  Zac is working on two books right now.  One is a monster "clerk's like restaraunt book called 98.6 degree, written by Matt LaRock, and the second is called the Secret Cross (written by Stephen Lindsay).

Zac is working on a a huge painting for that book.  Stephen is the bad a$$ writer behind the cult classic Jesus Hates Zombies (in stores now).

Zac also helped close out the 2008 series of Bad Art for Bad People shows with a bang by selling almost every piece of artwork showing (5 paintings/ sculptures and 5 shirts.

Thanks agaiin Bob White and Eric Trujillo with art in the city.  They are both outstanding artists and threw crazy cool events.

Jimmy will be in LA this week at the VGA's.  he will be front row at teh awards show (keep an eye out for him).

Andrew is now in 24 stores with Animal Accents of denver and has done amazingly with two new sculptures in the works.  They should both be ready by February.

Congrats everyone
